It is, perhaps, no accident that someone decided to hang paintings here, in the middle of one of the world's most storied jazz summers.
Starting 1 July 2026, the Hôtel AC Ambassadeur Marriott Antibes Juan-les-Pins becomes something more than a place to sleep between concerts. It is into this context that Kleczewski-Bézat's work steps. The exhibition is presented in what the organisers call a cadre privilégié — a privileged setting — and the phrase earns its weight. The Marriott Ambassadeur occupies a position between the beach and the town, which means guests move through it the way festival-goers move through Juan-les-Pins itself: unhurriedly, with half an eye on the water.
Art as Atmosphere, Not Ornament
What distinguishes Jazz Expo from a lobby decoration is the duration and the intention. The work remains on view for the full length of the festival, which means it accumulates meaning as the weeks pass — seen once before a late-night set, encountered again over a morning coffee, noticed differently after rain. A hotel is one of the few places where the same person looks at the same wall multiple times, and good exhibition design understands that rhythm.
Danielle Kleczewski-Bézat's practice, shown here in a setting shaped by music and Mediterranean summer, invites that kind of sustained attention. Beyond that, the organisers have kept the details spare — which is, in its own way, an invitation to come and see.
